In Schwyzerdütsch (Swiss German) the grammatical genders coincide with those of standard German (f/m/n), the Swiss French with those of standard French (f/m only)

Earliest depiction found: 1473 (Spalen tower, Basel); Illustrations in the chronicles of Diebold Schilling show the bagpipe as a Swiss military instrument; Attempts towards a revival started in 1974, with a very limited number of followers
