Moldova

The definite article, in Moldavian expressed as a suffix, has been added in each relevant entry; NB¹: Most of the terminology is identical to that of the Romanian Cimpoi; NB²: The official name (also in English) of this independent republic (capital: Chișinău) is "Moldova"; Originally the name of a historical region and former principality, it is also the Romanian name for a region in northeastern Romania, the official English name of which is "Moldavia"; In order to avoid confusion, I refer to them in this survey as "Moldova" [i.e. the country] and "Moldavia (RO)" [i.e. the region]
