Born in Wicklow; One of the 57 miscellaneous "Famous pipers", mentioned in O’Neill (Chapter XXIII: p.341-346); In 1849 he emigrated to Rockleigh, South Australia; He inherited the pipes from his father, an accomplished player; In the early 1850s he played around the diggings at Forest Creek, Ballarat, and Bandigo; He also played the Warpipes.
