Born [and lived?] in Chiappelli, a hamlet near Mezzano Scotti (Dorba valley, prov. Piacenza); A cousin of Giovanni Marchesi "Tugnarel", he was an esteemed player, who played both as a soloist and, occasionally, accompanied pifferaio Fiorentino Azzaretti "Fiurentin", attending the territories of Bobbio, Cicogni, Zavattarello and Menconico; He is remembered to perform around 1915 both the ancient repertoire ("Gighe") and the "Liscio da piffero" [smooth piping] style.
