Vukašinović, Teodor

1855-? [>1937]
nickname(s): "Teja"
original: Вукашиновић, Теодор ("Теја")

piper (&c.) mentioned by name

1937 still active; Lived in Kraljevac (Srem [Syrmia] region); NB: In their article in the internet source, Dr. Alois Schmaus (1901-1970) and Mitar Vlahović quote Vukašinović, according to whom "singing to the accompaniment of bagpipes is much rarer than singing without any accompaniment whatsoever"; In my opinion this is, however, too bold a statement, because in the region, and other Balkan countries, epic songs are usually accompanied on a 1-stringed rebec (Gusla, or Gusle [Bosnia & Hercegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia], Lahuta [Albania, Kosovo], &c.; NB: The Roma [gypsies] call it an Unzardo).

Instrument: Gajda
