Born in 1914 in Pela, (Vilantime, Arzúa, province A Coruña), he was a prestigious bagpipe maker, renowned especially for the great sound of his extraordinary bagpipes; He also made other Galician instruments; He inherited the trade from his father Ramón Carril, who came from a family of carpenters; In 1919 they settled in Santiago de Compostela; At the age of 13 (approx. 1927), Basilio began working with his father in the workshop, making bagpipes, which he continued doing; After having married [in ???], his wife Jesusa López made the bag covers (Fundas), fringes (Farrapos) and tassels (Borlas) to decorate them; His workshop contains the original devices and some of the instruments he made; It is on the Rúa San Pedro, which is within walking distance from the Museo do Pobo Galego [Museum of the Galician People], to which it legitimately belongs; NB: A video of 2016 (see internet source) specifically concentrates on the years 1967-1968.
