Born in Simuna; Retired in 1976; Learned how to play the Torupill from the last living pipers; Also a manufacturer; To start the revival, in 1970* (a few months after Aleksander Maaker’s death), he made, together with master instrument manufacturer Voldemar Süda, replicas of one of the authentic instruments, and taught 20 people (aged from 14 to 70) how to play them; *NB: ➺ Alfred Nurmik, and Ants Taul.
