"Dudy nie skrzypce"
"A bagpipe is not a violin"; This expression figuratively indicates a necessary differentiation between two objects (Compare English "to compare apples and oranges"); In Polish the comparison is even "worse", because bagpipes are often undervalued folk instruments, whereas the violin is considered a sophisticated classical instrument, not to be confused with a Gęśle or Mazanki [fiddles], even though the term skrzypce is also used for several types of (sometimes rather crudely made) folk violins.
