"Serenade"

Prague, 1769: A group of 35 pipers played - on inaccurately tuned instruments! - a midnight serenade, to honour the nameday of Commanding General Kinský’s wife; The order had been given by a Captain named Harrach, who was rewarded with 14 days imprisonment, and was denied professional promotion for 35 years, i.e. 1 year for each piper….
