Spelling [i.e. Wade-Giles transcription; ws] of Dǒu in Moule.
The "air chamber" of the instrument described by Moule is made of "wu-t’ung" wood [i.e. 梧桐 (wútóng [Chinese parasol tree (Firmiana simplex)]); ws], scented with camphor and lacquered black; According to Moule, it is "sometimes made of redwood polished".
