Literal translation: 次: "second"; 中: "middle"; 音: "sound / tone"; 笙: "mouth organ"; In internet source translated as "tenor" [which is actually 男高音 (nángāoyīn)]; Not often used, as its range overlaps with those of the Dīyīn and Zhōngyīn shēng; NB: ➺ Jiàn shēng.
Range: G-f♯² (according to internet source [Expats]: g²-f♯⁵ (1 octave lower than soprano sheng [i.e. Gāoyīn shēng; ws])).
