Murali (gender unknown)
original: मुरलो
bagpipe term also used for other aerophones
NOT a bagpipe, but according to Bărbuceanu, who fails to reveal his source, the Sanskrit name for the combination of a primitive clarinet and a bagpipe that has a "pentagonal [?] bag beautifully ornamented with embroidery and pearl fringes" (compare the decorative cover commonly used to adorn the Romanian Cimpoi, &c.); On the internet only encountered as a double-flute, erroneously also called Bansuri (Hindi: बाँसुरी) and the Carnatic Venu (Sanskrit: वेणु), which are, however, names for bamboo duct and transverse flutes.
