Ken (-)
One of the spellings in Collaer, who informs us that the instrument is "mainly used in folk music, but also in seb noi (mohori) ensembles"; According to Sachs, who claims that it is played in northwestern Annam, it is "a decidedly Laotian instrument [that] essentially only occurs on the east bank of the Mekong, and in Lao settlements in Siam [i.e. Thailand; ws]"; NB: Annam (Vietnamese: An Nam or Trung Kỳ) is the old name used in the West to refer to Vietnam, but it was later used for the French protectorate (1883-1948; capital: Huế) in Central Vietnam only; NB: ➺ Ken (1: Cambodia, 3: Thailand, and 4: Vietnam).
