Hornpipe with a mouthpiece: gourd / chanter + drone, no bell / free reeds
Kwanhai-Palauṅ people, Kunhawt [though the name of the instrument is from Namhsan, ca. 20 km N of Kunhawt], Shan State, eastern Myanmar [NE of Mandalay]; The Palauṅ of Kodaung [WSW of Mandalay] have a similar, larger instrument (chanter: 400 mm), the name of which is, however, not mentioned in Sachs.
2 cylindrical tubes, each with a metal Free reed; Left: drone [ca. 112 mm?] / Right: chanter (305 mm) with 7 fingerholes [and a thumbhole?]; NB: The instrument shown in Sachs seems to be provided with (at least) 1 venthole.
