Rakkopilli (-)
From "rakko" [bladder] + "pilli" [whistle/pipe]; Name among the Finnish Watländer minority (Finnish: Watialaiset) in prov. Petersburg. NB¹: The main text of the article in »Åbo Tidning« reads as follows: "There is some evidence that there were four holes on the front of the chanter, and one for the thumb on the back; According to I. Tynurist, the air reservoir was made of a pig's bladder or dog skin, and the bass (bourdon) pipe was missing; M. Guthrie provides a drawing of bagpipes with one drone. There is evidence that the performer could use the bagpipe bag filled with peas as a percussion instrument while playing the bagpipes (NB¹: ➺ homonym); NB²: ➺ Rackopilli; NB³: ➺ Åbo Tidning (Annotations WS); NB4: The reference to М. Гютриi (i.e. Matthieui Guthrie) in the guide to the Museum of the musical instruments of the Votians (guide)t is dubious, because the "Rakkopilli" is NOT mentioned in that source.
