Instruments made by Déchaud are mostly of ebony (Diospyros ebenum, Maba ebenus, &c.), or local fruit trees, less often of boxwood (Buxus sempervirens), rather of pear (Pirus communis) or sorb-, rowan- or service tree (Sorbus domestica).
