Cornemuse de Poitou (f)

(with) definite article: la
Vèze

Though referred to as such in several sources, the term Cornemuse de Poitou doesn’t actually occur in Mersenne, who may, however, have implied it in his references to its relation with the Haut-bois de Poi(c)tou, with which it formed a (seemingly inseparable) duo; NB¹: According to Montbel (p.118), it "retained the organological attributes of the Musette de cour, [but was] embellished with a small parallel drone and a Boîtier-bloc (➺ Boîtier) decorated with symbolic mirrors"; NB²: According to Jacquot it iwas "in use in the past; it did not have a small drone, which is what distinguishes it from other instruments of this type"; NB³: ➺ Cornemuse de cour.
