Practise chanter / Practice chanter
Special chanter for indoor training / improvement of finger technique and learning of new melodies; Naturally it requires the same fingering as the actual chanter; To protect the reed it is provided with a reed cap with a long nozzle; NB: Practise chanter is the British spelling, derived from the verb "to practise", whereas it is spelled Practice chanter in American English, even though bagpipes are not a domestic traditional instrument in the American continent (Compare Practise set).
Its narrow cylindrical bore results in a tone range 1 octave below that of a genuine (orthodox) chanter and its long and narrow reed produces a gentle sound.
