Bass drone

Tuning piece of the bass drone; A wooden joint, ending in a metal tube with a 180° bend, its opening facing the piper; Before tuning the other drones, the bass is silenced with a pat on that opening; NB: ➺ Sound box.

For added strength, a strutt is silver soldered between the two sides of the bend.
