emphasising octaved notes

No identical types known (yet).

Method of emphasising octaved notes by lifting the chanter off the knee just as they begin to sound, resulting in a slight crescendo and a small gradual change of pitch; To obtain the required result, a piper must stop the chanter, build up the necessary pressure, sound the note in stopped position, and immediately lift the chanter again; NB: ➺ Popping [= Cranning?].
