Ancient; Already 5th century?; In Ledwich spelt as Adharcaidh-Chiuil and defined as "Musical Horn"; Podnos oddly describes the instrument as "pipes with musical bag", whereas his source, Day, translates the name as "a collection of pipes with a bag, or rather a musical bag"; Erroneously, Sachs refers to O'Connor, the correct spelling of whose name is O'Conor, and, moreover, who uses an alternative spelling); Jacquot defines it as "a kind of Irish bagpipe"; NB: ➺ Cuisley cuil.
