Measure used to define the size of chanters and drones; NB¹: A "palmo" was 1/8 of a "canna"; The length of a "canna" varied from region to region and even over time (In 1864 a Neapolitan "canna" measured 2109,6 mm (1/8 = 263,7 mm); Gala states that a "palmo" officially measured 265 mm (= 1/8 of 2120 mm), though it may vary nowadays [i.e. 20th century; ws], depending on local customs, from 250 to 270 mm); NB²: The Italian feminine form (Palma; plural: Palme) is not used for measurements; NB³: ➺ Zampogna a palmi.
