Zampognista (m)

(with) definite article: lo
plural: Zampognisti; (with) definite article: gli
(the) piper(s)
Zampognaro

Term fabricated by a certain Piero Bottali, who describes it as "just a person who plays the zampogna, like a guitarist who plays the guitar, a pianist who plays the piano, &c., without being part of any cultural tradition", claiming that "The zampognaro is a person, typical of the agro-pastoral culture of Central-Southern Italy", ignoring the fact that many traditional "zampognari" nowadays live under quite different circumstances, sometimes even in towns, in Italy or abroad; NB¹: Compare Musista; NB²: ➺ similar terms.
