Mainly: boxwood (Buxus sempervirens), mulberry (Morus), walnut (Juglans regia), olive (Olea europæa), wild olive (Olea europæa L. var. olivaster), maple (Acer), heather (Erica [arborea?]), fruit trees and other species of more limited and local distribution; Types used by Domenico Cutullè: bruvera [heather], cacummaro [strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo)], chestnut (Æsculus hippocastanum), cherry (Prunus avium), and, even though he didn’t like its colour, walnut; For the mounts and ferrules he used cow’s horn (boiled, cut to size and turned).
