Gala uses the plural form (only once, in connection with the Puntali), but without any explanation regarding their whereabouts or function; In his chapter on the Zampogna of Basilicata, Nicola Scaldaferri uses the singular form, however: four times for a fingerhole, and once for a venthole in the Femmina (right-hand chanter).
