Shuttle pipe
Term for a bagpipe with a short, wide cylinder that contains several drones; Each separate drone can be tuned with a slide; Marcuse mentions Shuttle pipe, however, only as the name of a late 17th century obsolete bellows-blown bagpipe of Northumberland, referring to »Grove’s dictionary of music and musicians« (1954) as her source; Podnos, who seems to parrot Marcuse (a frequent occurrence) fails to mention his source; NB¹: ➺ Musette de cour, and Northumbrian smallpipes; NB²: Compare Shuttle.
