Because the Baghèt should be "white", the most valuable pipes are traditionally made of martèll [boxwood (Buxus sempervirens)], the others of cherry (Prunus avium) or maple (Acer); Pipes of ebony do exist, but the combination of "black" wood with the (traditionally) red cover of the bag is considered problematic, because they are the "Devil’s colours".
