Linguazza (f)

(with) definite article: sa
(the) (small?) tongue
Limbatta

Campidano plain; Oddly, Dore misinterprets this as the name of the entire reed (l’ancia); In Lai’s »Metodo…« it is incorrectly called "a single reed", but clearly described as its tongue only; In the English version, however, the translator curiously, and erroneoulsly, states that "The mouthpiece of the launeddas is formed by […] a short reed tube closed at the upper end by the cane’s node and open at the other extremity, into which is inserted [*] a simple reed…" [NB¹: Even if "ancia semplice" were translated correctly ["single reed"], it wouldn’t make sense, because it is the "tongue" that is "cut out"; *NB²: "inserted" is an incorrect translation of Italian "escissa" [cut out]); NB³: ➺ Linguazzu.
