Usually preferred is aliva d’ògghiu [i.e. "oil olive tree" (Latin name?)], a variety with particularly straight and smooth branches; Also appreciated are sturdy wood types like agghiastru [wild olive (Olea europea L. var. olivaster)] and fràscinu [ash tree (Fraxinus excelsior)]; Other types are varcuocu [apricot (Prunus armeniaca)], cirasu [cherry (Prunus avium)], cèusu iancu [white mulberry (Morus alba)], and zorbu [sorb/rowan/service tree (Sorbus domestica)].
