Teufels Blasebalg (m)
(with) definite article: derSobriquet (also Soubriquet): A “nickname” that can be used endearingly or otherwise. In references to bagpipes it is used disdainfully only, however.
One of the vituperations used by Swedish-Estonian pastor Johan Lithander (1742−1789), who was one of the 18th century Herrnhut persecutors of folk music. Interestingly, his son Carl Ludvig (1773-1843), a successful composer, wrote a comic opera entitled "Säckpiparen" [The piper], which was performed only once, in 1963 (!).
