each of the spatulae for spreading bees-wax when tuning, or adjusting a reed
Spatula, used for handling beeswax when tuning; Banat region.
Originally a nail of some large bird was used (hence the term), nowadays [i.e. late 20th century (after 1960); ws] made of any material suited for the purpose, from horn to plastic, often cut in the same shape.
