Rarely used term; From "bąkać" [to mumble / mutter]; A relation with the name of a bird, "Bąk" [bittern (Botarius stellaris)], has been suggested, as well, because of the loud sound, made by that bird in the mating season (➺ Huk); NB: ➺ homonyms, &c.
