Mentioned in Ludwik Pietrusiński’s "memoirs from the journey to Kamesznica in 1845", in which he writes that "Dudy czyli Kobza zowią się także »gajdą«" [the Dudy or Kobza is also called Gajda]; Ignoring the actual implication of Pietruszyński’s statement, Katarzyna & Maciej Szymonowiczowie draw the rather dubious conclusion that "This […] reliable document confirms that they were not Dudy, but Gajdy (characteristic of the village of Kamesznica and the region of the south-western part of Żywiec), thus showing to be unaware of the fact that Dudy, Kobza, and Gajda are only examples of the various cases in which one and the same instrument has different names (e.g. in Austria, where Bockspfeife, Fotzpfeife, and even Kobza, are synonyms of the "official" German name, Dudelsack); NB¹: ➺ Kobza; NB²: ➺ Cobza; NB³: ➺ homonyms, &c.
