Stroik (m)

plural: Stroiki
reed (muz.)

term used for single reeds, the tongue of which is cut into their base; If damaged, such a reed has to be replaced entirely; If cut directly in the tube(s) of so-called "primitive clarinets", replacement is impossible, of course

Identical types: 7

Chanter and drone reed(s); NB: ➺ homonym (reed of a Dudy wielkopolskie).

Chanter reed: up to 85 mm, with a tongue (Języczek) of 50 mm; According to Sobieska the drone reed measures 126 mm, with a tongue (Języczek) of 75 mm (which would imply that it is shorter than the drone reed of the Dudy wielkopolskie).
