Bucium (m)

(with) definite article: Buciumul
plural: Buciume; (with) definite article: Buciumele
(the) horn(s) [instrument(s)]
Butuc

Dubious term in Habenicht, who gives its "original" meaning (eigentlich [actually] Alphorn; lat. [Latin] buccina), but fails to mention his source; Moreover, his comparison with the Swiss "Alphorn" is, in my opinion, rather ill-judged, because as a type it is similar to the Scandinavian "Lur", instead, and also played in the same manner, viz hand-held, and pointing slighly upwards (which is, for quite understandable reasons, impossible to practise with an Alphorn).
