Russwurm’s odd remark (»In die Flöte wird ein Birkenreis v. c. 4 Zoll [= 105,4 mm] Länge gesteckt (tappelstucken)«; ➺ Rehnberg, p.23), is rather confusing, because it suggests the Tappelstuck to be a reed, the size of which seems to be more appropriate for a drone-pipe, instead.
