Erroneous spelling in Atlas (Probably a misinterpretation of Latvian "somu" (meaning "bags") and "Finnish" [Compare "Suomi" (Finland)]), ignorantly parroted by Baines and Podnos, and also by Marcuse, who refers to Baines as her source; NB: Note the oddly deviating, equally erroneous, spelling in Allmo (Suomo duda).
