Lalym uadynz / ~ uadyndz
original: Лалым уадынз (уадындз)
Bagpipe, mouth-blown: 1 stock (single chanter) / no drones
Ossetia; Used for dance music, mostly at weddings; Almost extinct. The spelling in Wikipedia (Лалым уадындз [Lalym uadyndz] is (as far as I understand) in the southern (i.e. the "Iron") dialect [NB¹: There is NO connection with the metal (FE26) !]; The spelling in the Atlas appears to be in the "Digor" (i.e. western) dialect, which seems to have been used predominantly during the Soviet era; NB²: Oddly, in the »Atlas« the instrument is only mentioned in the English section, even though the index refers to the Russian section only!
The fur of the bag is shown; Its chanter has 3 fingerholes; It has no drone.
