Sordina (f)
(with) definite article: laBagpipe, mouth-blown: 2 stocks (a: double chanter / b: drone)
A renaissance instrument, reconstructed by Italian luthier Marco Tomassi on the basis of iconographic material encountered in the Republic of San Marino; NB¹: Its Italian name (that translates as mute, or sordine [i.e. damper / muffler]) is possibly based on the name of a 15th century instrument mentioned in Giovanni Lorenzo Baldano's »Libro per scriver l’intavolatura per sonare sopra le sordelline« (NB²: ➺ Italy).
