Ruuspipe (f)

(with) definite article: de
(the) murmur pipe [?]
Doedelzak

Spruit, who quotes from "rekeningen van de grafelijkheid van Holland (1340-1417) en van de graven van Blois (1317-1389)" [i.e. Official accounts of the mentioned countships; ws], mentions "5 menestrelen mit scalmeye ende mit ruuspipen"; NB¹: Though the latter name in this context seems to be the plural form, Spruit interprets it as [singular] "doedelzak";
NB²: Even though Boone refers to Spruit in another instance (➺ Corremusekin), he seems to have missed this quotation, referring to an 1899 dictionary of Middle Dutch, instead;
NB³: ➺ Ruischpijp, Ruispijp, Ruuspijp, Ruyschpijpe, Ruyschpype, and Ruyspijp; NB4: ➺ Belgium.
