Bague (f)
(with) definite article: ladecorative nameplate
Decorative nameplate, usually made of a sheet of non-corroding metal, bent around the Boîtier à boules (➺ Boîtier) of a Cabrette, holding the pieces together; Late 19th [from 1870?] and [early] 20th centuries; Usually engraved with the name of the owner (i.e. the musician), with a date (year), or (more rarely) with the date of a contest; NB¹: Geometrically its shape is "obround" (i.e. a "rounded rectangular", or "a rectangle with inverted rounded corners"; In Wiktionary it is described as "A plane shape consisting of 2 semicircles connected by parallel lines tangent to their endpoints"); NB²: Purely coincidentally, "obround" happens to be an anagram of "bourdon" (😀); NB³: I haven't encountered the term (yet) in other sources; NB4: ➺ homonym (mount).
