Cornemuse (f)

(with) definite article: la

Bagpipe, mouth-blown: 2 stocks (a: single chanter / b: ? drones in 1 stock)

No identical types known (yet).

Depicted in an engraving entitled "Le bal des charboniers" (Une vue d'Auvergne), № 19 from the series "Physionomies des bals publics" by Charles Vernier (1813-1892); NB¹: The drone stock seems to hold a second (rather narrow) drone, but its shape is too vague to interpret it definitely as such (NB²: A reproduction in colour shows a quite different structure, which, unfortunately, is equally unclear); NB³: Without embarking on any attempt towards an analysis, Ricros just refers to the instrument as "a mouth-blown cornemuse" (➺ caption).
