According to Blanc, "the 7th level of the scale"; NB: Apparently the term is named after the fingering technique used to produce the required tone by closing the holes covered by the index + ring fingers of the upper hand (Compare b♭5 in a soprano [descant] recorder in C, and e♭5 in an alto [treble] recorder in F).
