Symphonie (f)
Mentioned in Jacquot, in which it is defined as a term in the Romance language.[i.e. Latin (WS)]; According to Stainer, the "chifonie or symphonie was an instrument of the same class [i.e. bagpipes] used in the Middle Ages"; NB: Oddly, the term doesn't occur at all in the new edition (ca.1914) of Stainer's book.
