According to Wikipedia [1], "it is one of the first Iranian wind instruments"; The name comes from zal (زَل), [which is] the Persian word for the stem of the zal reed" [ws: cane?], adding that "the Dozaleh is made of two pipes, one of which produces [the] melody and the other harmony", and that the instrument "sounds like a Ney-anbān and is very dynamic"; According to Wikipedia [2], "The dozaleh is one of the old folk wind instruments of Iran which is used in mirth celebrations", adding that "It is played in Khorasan [خراسان], Kermanshah [کرمانشاه], and mostly in Iran" [NB: This observation is explained by the fact that Khorasan covers parts of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well].
