Armstrong, George Grey

bagpipe maker, also a piper (or vv.) (&c.), mentioned by name

Lived in Hexham; A noted player, teacher and a highly respected maker and repairer of Northumbrian smallpipes, he also composed several tunes for the instrument; He taught Tommy Breckons, Joe Hutton and many others (some of his teaching was for Scout troops), and passed on his pipemaking skills to William Cocks.
