Rowsome, William ("Willie")
ca. 1870-1925bagpipe maker, also a piper (or vv.) (&c.), mentioned by name
Son of Samuel Sr., a "strong" farmer of Ballintore Ferns [NNE of Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford]; Father of Leo. He moved to Dublin, where he opened a workshop; An accomplished piper, he played staccato style, which, according to an admirer, was "a marvel of dexterity, as it entails an expenditure of muscular energy beyond ordinary manual effort. His tipping and tripling are admirable, and his manipulation of the regulators may well, in these degenerate days of piping, be regarded as an innovation of the art".
