Born in Castellafiume [SW of Avezzano, prov. L’Aquila]; Grandson of Clementino; Son of Carmine; He started playing when 19 years of age, and played at ritual celebrations, such as Whitsunday, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (September 8), and Patronal festivals of Castellafiume, Capistrello [SE of Castellafiume], Pescocanale [S of Capistrello], Canistro [also S of Capistrello] and Luco dei Marsi [SSE of Avezzano]; Deprived of a Bifera player, he stopped playing in 1982, being the last piper of the family in his village; In 2005 he still owned a Zampogna zoppa 25 bassa, made by Mario D’Agostino of Villa Latina; Made entirely of olive (Olea [europaea?]) it had 2 conical chanters of different length, both with an avezzanese type bell, 2 sounding drones, double reeds, and a bag made of sheepskin.
