Maksimović, Rada

ca. 1924-2007
original: Максимовић, Рада

piper (&c.) mentioned by name

[Born and?] lived in Srbobran [N of Novi Sad]; In Slovak his name is Rada Maksimov; He accompanied himself when singing; He was the last authentic piper of the Vojvodina; Also a great singer, he had a rather characteristic nasal voice; In the 1980s I had the great pleasure to meet him, and the honour of being invited to accompany him to a few events where he was hired to play; NB: See my remark to Prdaljka concerning the absolute / relative length of a drone.

Instrument: Gajda
