Prdaljka (f)
original: прдаљка
only drone, adjustable: cylindrical, straight, no bell, no cavity / single reed
Retrograde; In order to allow the piper and his audience (often a crowd at a wedding party) ample freedom of movement, the length of this extremely long drone is usually "reduced", applying trumpet-like bends (➺ Absolute / Relative length); When I met Rada Maksimović of Srbobran at some wedding party, he used a garden hose of ca. 30 mm in Ø (ending in a decoratively perforated spherical metal "bulb"), wound around his waist; His simple but quite practical solution allowed him to walk around without any risk of hitting a person or object, which could easily happen with one of the "ordinary" and more expensive types, which, moreover, can't readily be replaced when damaged; NB¹: ➺ homonyms, &c.
Pitch, according to Vukosavljević: F1 (contra octave; According to Jakovljević: C); NB²: According to Širola, in the Banat region the drone (length: 1140 mm [➺ Velike gajde]) is inserted in the left leg stock of the bag.
NB: Example(s) to be replaced with staff-notation.
